The Station Wagon model measures 59 inches in length, 16 inches in width and 20 inches in height.
The weight of the Station Wagon varies depending on the type of wood used but is generally between 18 and 20 pounds.
The bumper is made of shock-absorbing polyethylene which means there is no metal for children to hurt themselves on or that little tongues can get stuck to! The handrails are of the same material, so considerably less strength is needed to pull the sleigh than if they were made of wood or steel.
The Station Wagon is constructed of hardwood, with a very special technique and of a material called babiche - split cowhide sinew lacing. The babiche is used to attach the rear boards and to close the back and side openings.
Depending on the type of sleigh, the following species of wood are used for its construction: white ash, white oak, red oak, yellow birch, black walnut, black cherry, bitternut hickory...
