The Yukon model measures 56 inches in length, 18 inches in width and 23 inches in height.
The weight of the Yukon varies depending on the type of wood used but is generally around 21 – 22 pounds.
The bumper is made of shock-absorbing polyethylene which means there is no metal for children to hurt themselves on, or that little tongues can get stuck to!
The handrails are of the same material, so considerably less strength is needed to pull the sleigh than if they were made of wood or steel.
The Yukon is made of hardwood, with a very special technique and of a material called babiche - split cowhide sinew lacing. The babiche is used to attach the rear boards and to close the back and side openings.
Depending on the type of sleigh, the following species of wood are used for its construction: white ash, yellow birch, bitternut hickory...
